General auditions will be held in June, if we have too many applicants. Those selected will go on to take advantage of the course, which runs from the Monday 28th July to Saturday 9th August 2008, inclusive (not 5th/6th Aug).

On the first day we will meet at 10am for registration. You will meet the Director, Choreographer and other associated staff. The morning session will be a chance for us to get to know each other, and in the afternoon, we will hold auditions to cast the production. All performers will be notified of their parts, and then rehearsals will be underway for 8 days. For each day of the course, there will be structured classes, in singing, dancing and acting . In the dance all the routines will be choreographed, and later the show will be blocked. The Acting classes will explore the required repertoire for this show, and the songs will be taught for the final performances. For the last part of the second week, the technical and dress rehearsals take place for a further 3 days at the Roxburgh Theatre, Stowe School, Stowe, Bucks www.stowe.co.uk

The course will run from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm each day, apart from the 2 show days when the hours are 10.00 am to 10.30 pm.

'Fame' - The Story

Set during the last years of New York City's celebrated High School for the Performing Arts on 46th Street (1980-1984), "Fame—The Musical" is bittersweet but ultimately inspiring story of a diverse group of students as they commit to four years of gruelling artistic and academic work. With candour, humour and insight, the show explores the issues that confront many young people today: issues of prejudice, identity, self-worth, literacy, sexuality, substance abuse and perseverance. So Act One sets the scene....'A group of vibrant, energetic young people, African-American, white, Hispanic, rich and poor alike, converge on 46th Street to audition for the chance to study at the famous New York High School of Performing Arts (P.A.). Praying they make P.A.," the students tear open a letter from the school, learn of their acceptance and begin a joyous dance of celebration......'.
